...using universally accepted ASTM calibration methods...
The American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) is an organization that creates calibration and product testing methods. These test methods are reviewed by committees that include instrument manufacturers and end users. Companies that use ASTM calibration methods insure that data can be compared between different brands of instruments, including texture analyzers. These test methods also include an uncertainty analysis and, for some data types, a classification of the data precision. Following these test methods means that the test instrument meets a known specification for quality and impartiality. Go to ASTM to learn more.

...with NIST traceable equipment.
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is a US government department that has established measurement standards for force, distance, and speed. To insure measurement uniformity, all measurement equipment must be calibrated with standards that are traceable to NIST measurement standards. Instruments that are calibrated with NIST traceable standards will have a known measurement uncertainty. This will then allow for the end user to know the accuracy of their test instrument. Texture Guy uses equipment that is traceable to NIST standards. NIST traceable certificates are provided at the time of service. Go to NIST to learn more.
